The Location

Streeterville is a Chicago neighborhood with a colorful history. When the city was founded, the waters of Lake Michigan filled the area north of the Chicago River and east of Pine Street (now Michigan Avenue). The accumulation of sand and silt eventually created an area known as "the Sands." It was here where George Wellington Streeter stranded his boat in 1886 and brashly claimed the land for himself.
